Exploring and developing relationship networks for better business relationships

Enhance social and relationship capital by exploring and developing the informal networks of relationships to make gains in collaboration when:

Strategic planning

Stronger relationships between executives and managers of business units ensure collaboration with shared solutions rather than one or two people dominating and short term solutions emerging

Interpersonal relationships have broken down and the working atmosphere is becoming unpleasant

Here the team needs to redefine its purpose and vision for how they want to be together, learn new skills, emphasise collaborative behaviour, and get to know each other in more productive ways

One or more new team members join an existing team

There is a chance to refresh and create a 'new' team culture capitalising on the new skills and attributes both within the group and with those entering the team

A new CEO, general manager or team leader joins the group

Those not chosen by the leader are usually deciding if they want to stay or go. These sense of being accpected and being able to influence is highlighted at these times. Changes at the top, tear the fabric of existing personal networks, and require everyone to develop new connections. The CEO/leader assesses which team members he/she can trust to work in the new direction being created, adn team members assess whether the new environment/CEO's direction  is attractive and compelling to them.

A major change has been initiated by outside conditions .g. the loss of key business/client, becoming a public company, new technology

This provides the team with a chance to focus on how they want to work together to refocus the business

How do we approach this work?

The Organisation Development Company's typical approach is to meet with the  initiating leader to clarify the purpose and the outcome being sought. Other preparation includes a 40 minute session with everyone who will be participating. This session is a discussion and assists to clarify the different interests and concerns as team members come together. These meetings are usually the only 'formal' preparation required of participants.

One outcome of these meetings is the Organisation Development Compny  provides the group with an assessment of key themes, the stage of development of the group, and a plan of approach. Another result is participants' outcomes are included on the agenda, establishing two-way shared outcomes. Participants see the planned structure and processes relating directly to the purpose and outcomes being sought.

Everything we do is tailored specifically to the needs / interests / outcomes being sought by your team.
