Personality Profiles
ODC works with two personality profiles, Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), and FIRO-B. Both give an understanding of people's preferences, similarities and differences; the first in response to thinking, information, communicating and decision making, and the second in response to relationships, power and influence. Both these enable people to understand one another better, and tap into strengths, and be alert to areas of weakness.
Myers Briggs Type Indicator
MBTI is widely used in NZ, Australia, and America. It assists individuals and teams understanding themselves and one another and their preferences in communicating and making decisions. It enables participants be more effective is using their similarities and differences in working together.
We do assessments using Form M, and have processes whereby participants make an accurate assessment of their own personality preferences, using cartoons, work books and practical exercises derived from the business of the team. MBTI is a well researched, reliable and valid profile instrument. We are trained to use Step 11, the in depth individual and team profile.
Fundamental Interpersonal Relationships Oriented-behaviour
FIRO-B profiles are established in response to a series of questions. These profiles reflect a person's preference in three areas:
Including others (or not), or their need to be included by others
Their need for power and control
How open they are in their relationships, and how open they prefer others to be with them
A composite lively profile describes how this person is likely to respond in these three areas and the implications of that for individual and team success.
